Hello and welcome back to this week's Plog. In the next four weeks I will look at what the PMI calls the '9 Project Management Knowledge Areas'. This material can be found in great detail in the PMI's PMBOK ('Project Management Body of Knowledge') which is the prinicpal volume of knowledge by which all Project Manager's with a PMP designation (and other related certifications given by the PMI) subscribe to. In the PMBOK, should you decide to read it - and I hope you do if you plan on becoming a Project Manager and/or to write the PMI exam - there is a large volume of information with regard to these knowledge areas. And because of this fact along with how the material is presented within the PMBOK, this forum is not the right vehicle to discuss this material in the way it was intended to be read. |

Welcome back. Last week we looked at 'Why projects fail and what you can do about it". We focused the entire post on what is called VRM or Value Realization Modeling. Other names it goes by include, Cost Benefit Analysis, Return on Investment, Projection Modeling etc. Each one is slightly different than the others but they all share one thing in common, and that is to make an attempt to better understand possible future instances that may or may not ever come to fruition. But since we all know that 'luck favors the prepared', we try to get lucky as possible. |

Welcome back, Last week I introduced a rather straight forward concept called the "Triple Constraints". They were: 1. Time 2. Quality 3. Cost |

Welcome to this week's PLOG. You may or may not have noticed our new social networking, tagging and sharing button. It's a powerful new function that gives you the option of tagging and sharing articles across various 3rd party networks like Twitter and Facebook. You'll find the green button at the top and bottom of every article from this post onwards. Enjoy. |

Welcome to this week's plog. Mind the gap as some of you may have noticed that I took last week off from posting my regular plog. So, if you're ready, let's jump right back into it and start where we left off. In our last post, we discussed the three defining characteristics of a project: 1. It has a clearly defined objective 2. It has a clearly defined start and end date 3. It is unique in some capacity |
